No Matter Where You Go

When you do something over and over again, it becomes a routine after a while. No, I am referring to my job. I am referring to what happens after I check in at the hotel.

To satisfy your curious mind, this is what I usually do after I get the room key from the reception.

1) Check the entire room to make sure there is no defect
2) Ensure connecting door is locked
3) Place valuables and important documents in the safe
4) Look out of the windows and observe which part of the hotel I am at
5) Hang the Do-Not-Disturb sign on the door knob outside
6) Double latch the door
7) Place luggage at a corner and open up the luggage
8) Take toiletries bag out from luggage and place it in the toilet
9) Boil a flask of water and allow it to cool
10) Take food items out from luggage and place them near the coffee/tea making facility
11) Place perishables in refrigerator, if available.
12) Rinse the cups, teaspoons and water glasses.
13) Adjust the location of trash bins for better convenience
14) Take the laundry bag from the wardrobe, place it near the toilet, and use it to contain my dirty clothes
15) Place a rug (usually provided) near the shower facility to keep the floor as dry as possible

In my opinion, all these little acts help to maintain the cleanliness and order in the room. If you also realise, I try to situate things of the same kind together. When it comes to time to pack up, it becomes an easy chore, and the chance of forgetting to pack an item becomes lower.

No doubt, yes, it's a hotel room and after you check out, somebody will clear up the mess for you. However, no matter where you go I personally believe that how you organize things and what you do reflect your character and upbringing.

Any disagreement?
